Bee

         (Dining al fresco)

I think that I shall never see
A bug as loathsome as that bee
The bee that zipped around my plate
That bee I very nearly ate

The bee that’s met an ugly fate
When I crushed it on my plate
As it nibbled on my pie
My pleasure as I watched it die

But then I heard a dreadful buzzin
Here come siblings and his cousin
I went as fast as I could run
I was afraid that I was done

Across the patio I tore
And barely made it to the door
So indoor dining’s now for me
Where I will never see a bee

I think that this was the first that I wrote, clearly just for fun, perhaps
having been dealing with a yellowjacket while dining out at the Glen.
