I was left just a boy when my parents left
No brothers and no sisters, just a kid bereft

I hadn’t any idea of the coming stroke of luck
I scarcely new him then, my older cousin, Chuck

He became more than brother in the life I led
A rock and a buddy for my tough times ahead

Chuck was not a complex individual
What you saw is what you got, no residual

He had no problem stating what he believed
If he gave his word you’d never be deceived

Generous, kind, and always energetic
With him things seemed always copacetic

I’m forever grateful that he was there with me
No finer man or brother could anybody be
